Why focus on Climate Change?
Agriculture production is unable to meet the demand of the growing population. The challenge is intensified by agriculture’s extreme vulnerability to climate change. Climate change’s negative impacts are already being felt in the form of increasing temperatures, weather variability, shifting agroecosystem boundaries, invasive crops and pests, and more frequent extreme weather events. On farms, climate change is reducing crop yields, major cereals’ nutritional quality, and livestock productivity. Therefore, we diligently mitigate climate change by cultivating the capacity for Climate Resilient Agriculture among farmers. Through our programs, we aspire to shape a brighter future, taking comprehensive action that safeguards the well-being of current as well as upcoming generations.

2022 - 2023Climate Sakhi - Supported by Deloitte
The Climate Sakhi Pilot Project was launched in Mahendragarh, Haryana, aiming to empower women farmers and promote sustainable agriculture against climate change. It began with ten Climate Sakhis and expanded to 700 farmers across three phases. The Climate Sakhis received comprehensive training in diverse, sustainable farming techniques. Leading to the adoption of Azolla farming, boosting livestock feed for 50 households. Napier grass cultivation saved on cattle feeding costs, yielding 30,000 tons. Additionally, 50 vermicompost pits constructed during the project are expected to produce 15 tonnes of compost annually. High-quality seed cultivation on 50 acres increased yields while leveling 10 acres improved water usage. Micro-irrigation on 12 acres is set to save 11,73,060 gallons of water yearly. Planting 20,000 fruit trees enhanced a 170-acre green cover. Bio-pesticide training enabled non-pesticide farming on 160 acres, incorporating bio-pesticides and composting. Exposure visits and weather apps enriched the women farmers' knowledge. Embracing climate-smart farming reduced vulnerability, alleviated poverty, and improved economic well-being through increased income and cost-saving measures.

Jal Khushali & Jal Akshay - Supported by United Breweries Limited
In collaboration with United Breweries Limited (UBL), we initiated two transformative projects, 'Jal Khushali' in Chopanki, Alwar, and 'Jal Akshay' in Dharuhera, Rewari. These initiatives focus on harnessing rainwater and recharging the groundwater to combat water scarcity and effectively benefit the local community. Under the project, we have yielded vital water harvesting structures to harness the rainwater; other than that, we have made recharge wells and soak wells to ensure water gets back to the ground where it's needed. Our concerted efforts have led to the design and implementation of rejuvenating ponds across ten distinct regions in the Chopanki and Dharuhera. These sites underwent meticulous processes such as dewatering, soil excavation, embankment construction, and the creation of deep bore recharge wells, all culminating in the generation of these ponds. The scope of our work extended beyond functional aspects and embraced the enhancement of aesthetic and community-driven features. Hence, we also worked on building amenities like animal ramps, solar-powered lighting installations, and comfortable seating arrangements to brighten up the place and breathe new life into the local communities by transforming them into a community hub.
